With overconsumption and textile waste on the rise, we have made it our mission to be more conscious about what materials and energy is being used while creating each one-of-a-kind piece. It is our hope that through upcycling and thrifting materials to create new pieces, we inspire you to be more thoughtful about what you add to your closet.

Our Story

Upcycling isn’t a new concept, but our mission is to bring a fresh perspective to circular fashion through creative, sustainable sourcing. I started this business to educate, inspire, and prove that style doesn't have to come at the cost of the planet.

My name is Simone, I am from Kaimuki, Hawai'i and my journey started when I was in high school. Thrifting was not as popular of a concept back then as it has become in recent years. I would shop for vintage lole aloha when it was still $12 a piece at Savers, and "dad jeans" to cut into shorts.

Over the past few years, I taught myself to sew and draft patterns through endless trial and error. It wasn't easy, but it sparked a deep love for the process of transforming secondhand materials into something completely new—like turning thrifted bedsheets and tablecloths into wearable statement pieces.

By Vaitiare is my way of sharing that passion with you. I hope you love wearing and using these pieces as much as I loved bringing them back to life.
